My Travles
Travel can be the most rewarding forms of introspection
Lawrence Durrel. This is a powerful qoute that I believe needs to take more
importance. Traveling allows a person to get out of their comfort zone, and to challange yourself to live life outside the comfort of your home. For any person
to grow, I belive this is extremely important, as if one does not challange themselves to step outside of their comfort zone, it would have never gave them the chance to
fully acknowldege and realize that they can indeed take challanges they might have not been able to before. Furthermore, traveling wakes you up to the realization
that not everyone lives like you, that some may have it either better or worse than what you have. It allows for a person to step into another person's view
and see how their way of survival, as well as life is completely different than yours. It allows for a person to see things they considered essential in
their lives may not even be needed in another's. A person's perception and worldview of the world they see after travels often puts life in perspective, and allows
for one to rejduge their future and choices they made in their life. Furthermore, travel is one life's greatest teachers that anyone can get. It's form of education
will allow one to experience and get a hands on realization on topics such as economy, politics, history, geography, and sociology. Addtionally, travel is a
great tool and mechanism that allows for you to expand the institution of your network. In the future, one may never know one when needs to rely
on a diverse scale of a network to solve a problem. It is through travel that one gets to increase their network size at a much faster rate, which will
greatly augment and complement their life when needed later in the future. Furthermore, travel allows for one to develop extremely valuable soft skills,
as well as life skills that can be applied in all areas.
It is through this framework that my last travel to Lebanon has forever changed my life. I have been to Lebanon 3 different times in the past when I
was younger, however I do not remember much. All of my father's side of the family live there, and I do remember spending a lot of time with them as well
as getting to see all of the bueatiful landmarks and ruins. If I were to try to remember past expereinces from my previous travles there, I
remember being in awe of the different caves and beaches. I remember the beauty of the different mountains, and seeing how as if they stretched out to top of the clouds.
The currents of the ocean were extremely fast flowing, and got up to really high lenghths that just left me at sheer awe. The trees weren't the trees that I were used to,
and instead they were palm trees and olive trees that were extremely tall in legnth, with a wide base to support them. However, it was after my visit to Lebanon
to last year that would forever change my life.
My last trip to Lebanon was by far one of the most eye opening expereinces of my life. Lebanon was going through an extremely terrible ecnomic crisis, as the
terrible unrest and problems from Syria have crept into Lebanon. The enonomy took a direct hit as a result, and things were completely different. While I was there,
I had extremely limited access to hot water, and had to use freezing water for showers, brushing my teeth, and anything related to using to the bathroom. The only access
to clean drinking water was from drinking water bottles, which had to be used with the upmost care and sparringly. The electricity would go out every hour, and sometimes would
not even come back for several hours. Due to the extreme situtaions, I often had no internet or even celluar data to call and text. Furthermore,Lebanon now has a money supply
cap, and I've personally seen citizens screaming at banktellers for them to be able to withdraw more than the money cap set by the government, crying, begging for them
to help but to no avail as the banktellers can't do anything without arrest from the government. Living through this, it really began to change my perspective and
appreciate the small things in life. No longer will I take hot water for granted, and being to able to drink clean water at my leisure. I will forever be
appreciative of the fact that I can enjoy high speeds internet whenever I want in the comfort of my home, and that I dont have to worry about living without
electricity. Lastly, I have seen how the COVID 19 Corona Virus has drastically affected our own enocomy similar to that of Lebanon's, which enchanced and
strengthened my belief to never take money for granted either.
